Record a promise to give, track its installments, and close it out.
A pledge is a promise to give, not money received. Treating one as income you already have is the classic beginner mistake, and it double-counts your year.
Mich keeps the two apart. A pledge records the commitment and generates a schedule of installments; each payment against it is a separate record that reduces the outstanding balance.
