Thank a donor for a commitment, using acknowledgments rather than receipts.
A pledge gets an acknowledgment, not a receipt. No money has changed hands yet, so there is nothing to receipt: the document thanks the donor for the commitment.
Open a saved pledge.
The status line (A) shows where the acknowledgment has got to. Otherwise the panel behaves like the receipt panel on a donation: Generate (B) builds the document from your acknowledgment template, Issue (C) commits it.
Acknowledgments use their own template and their own numbering series, because they are a different kind of document. Conflating them would put a thank-you letter in the middle of your receipt numbering, which is exactly the sort of gap that makes a numbered series useless.
Payments against the pledge are receipted separately, as they arrive. One pledge can therefore produce one acknowledgment and many receipts.
